About The Pittsburgh Ledger
The Pittsburgh Ledger is an independent news outlet covering Pittsburgh, Cranberry, Beaver, and the towns in between: infrastructure, growth, sports, and technology.
The Ledger exists because of a simple observation. The most consequential stories in Western Pennsylvania are often the ones nobody covers: the billion-dollar lock rebuild on the Ohio, the bridge assembled next to a live interstate for two years, the township quietly becoming one of the fastest-growing places in the state. These stories shape how the region works, what it costs to live here, and where it's headed. They deserve better than a press release and a shrug.
How we report
The Ledger is a small, independent operation: curious neighbors using modern tools, public records, and local relationships to bring our region the answers and insights it deserves.
Every article is built from primary sources: government agencies, project documents, public filings, and official statements, supplemented over time by our own interviews and on-site reporting. Sources are listed at the end of each article so you can check our work. If we get something wrong, tell us, and we will correct it plainly.
Our news reporting sticks to facts. When we publish opinion or analysis, sports takes especially, it will be clearly labeled as commentary, never dressed up as news. And when policy or politics intersects the things we cover, we report it straight: what's proposed, what it costs, who it affects, without picking a side. When accountability questions arise, we pursue them through facts and public records, and we let the numbers do the arguing.

The Ledger is based in the corner where Allegheny, Beaver, and Butler counties meet, which is also the area we believe deserves far more coverage than it gets.
